My daughter Keatyn has always been exceptionally good at math. She gets it from her father. I’ve never been a fan of math so when we had kids I dreaded the day they start math. It’s just not my strong point, english is. So this year when she expressed even more interest in math, we thought it would be best to get her into tutoring to strengthen her knowledge. Now that summer’s out, it has made for a perfect opportunity for her to keep her math skills sharp and up-to-date by being involved in a class one day at week. After researching I partnered with Revolution Math which is the ideal summer learning activity to help Keatyn stay on task and sharp with math to go into second grade strong and avoid the summer slump. I want to share my thoughts with you guys that are looking to strengthen your children’s math abilities too.
What is Revolution Math?
Revolution Math is an innovative program designed to help 2nd-5th graders develop and strengthen their math skills and an overall love of learning. The live, online video chat classes are an interactive learning experience with a story-based curriculum and Common Core aligned math games. Students will be a part of a small class size of only 4 students, for 60 minutes every week, allowing them to build confidence under the instruction of a dedicated teacher. It actually makes learning fun because the kids feel like they’re playing a game instead of doing work. Plus they get points for every activity they complete and correct answer. We all know how much kids love to be rewarded and in my child’s case it makes her try so much harder.
How did she like it?
When she first started, she was so nervous about meeting a new teacher and students through video chat, but they all instantly made her feel very welcome. She got the the chance to participate in math-themed activities and games with the other students, and she is now so excited to start class every week!
