First things first, if you are fashion-conscious whatsoever, a FAUX fur coat, or seven, is an essential part of your wardrobe. According to the fashion gurus this fashion trend isn’t one that will phase out anytime soon. Instead, FAUX fur coats are becoming more prevalent since reappearing on the catwalks in 2018; and I am ALL about it.
I love that this plush garment has a plethora of options such as: colors, lengths, textures and price tags. The versatility alone will justify your purchase. Plus, this must-have outwear piece is not only perfect for multiple seasons; it can, and most definitely should, be worn indoors as well. This piece is meant to add a major wow factor to your outfit of choice. It is a layering piece that doesn’t have to make you look like the abominable snowman.
Don’t worry about affordability either. One of the biggest benefits of owning a fur coat is you are able to drape yourself in luxury without breaking the bank. Who wouldn’t want to create a dramatic celebrity look worthy of the red carpet? OR What about a chic look that transforms you into music video vixen? If any clothing item can do it, it’s a FAUX fur maxi coat.
Faux Fur Maxi Coat
Since the cold weather is still in effect, and unfortunately we can’t change it, it’s definitely time to up the closet envy and invest in a FAUX fur coat. If you tend to experience milder winters similar to where I live in Nashville, you can still rock the FAUX fur fashion trend by getting a lighter or shorter length coat.
With so many avenues to venture in the FAUX fur realm, I had a hard time choosing just one look for my blog. However, I truly adore this entire ensemble and have no regrets. I felt like a true Nashville diva, everything from the tiger striped boots to the vintage tee and distressed jeans with the big western style belt. Ultimately, it was the uber-soft brown, almost full length FAUX fur coat worn slightly off one shoulder that was impeccable cherry on top.
To my surprise, I didn’t feel awkward or out of place wearing such an eye-catching coat. On the contrary, I felt like I should be signing autographs or sitting in the VIP lounge with an adult beverage in hand. Wearing my shoulder length hair loose and beachy gave this outfit a BOHO, free spirit vibe. If I wanted to take it a step further I could have added a pair of round sunglasses or some midi rings.
Also, just to be clear, I have put emphasis on the word “FAUX” on purpose. The word “FAUX”, especially in the fashion world, has a stigma of being “cheap” looking or of poor quality. However, fortunately for us, this is 2020 and FAUX fur has come a long way since the 70’s.
Over time the quality of FAUX fur has been enhanced and now is a preferred humane substitute to the real thing. So to the elation of animal lovers, like myself, or fashionistas on a budget, also like myself, the differences between real and FAUX fur are minimal besides the price. Like PETA often says, “Compassion is Fashion”. Women shouldn’t have to sacrifice style to live a happy, ethical and compassionate lifestyle. (*cue Sarah McLachlan’s song “In The Arms Of The Angel” but try not to cry)
I feel this should be the point that you turn off Sarah McLachlan and turn on Macklemore’s song “Thrift Store” while you online shop your pretty little heart away for the FAUX fur coat that screams Hollywood glam because this matchless trend is going nowhere in the foreseeable future and that is a trend we all need in our closets.
