Honey Brussel Sprouts || The Side Dish Everyone Will Love

Oh do I have a treat for you guys! So the other day I had dinner at a local restaurant and had the most phenomenal honey roasted Brussel sprouts I’ve ever tasted in my life. So in true Ashley form, I decided to attempt to replicate it. I knew the basics they used based off of taste but I had to do a little bit of trial and error of course. Now if you follow my recipes you know I’m not a stickler for exact measurements. I just don’t cook like that. So I’m gonna give you an estimate but I might like more red chili pepper than you or vice versa so feel free to experiment with the ingredients to make it your own. I used Sue Bee® honey to balance the dish. It is a trusted, classic and traditional brand of honey that has been enjoyed by families for a century. (You know you’ve seen the breakfast staple Sue Bee bear!) The reason I love this honey is the consistency is smooth and it is delicious, there’s a reason it is the #1 preferred Sioux Honey product. We also use it for breakfast on our biscuits and toast. I found it at my local Target but they carry it at most stores.

A few facts about Sue Bee honey:

  • The honey is made by the 250+ independent family beekeepers who make up the Sioux Honey Association Co-op.
  • Sue Bee honey is actually produced right here in the USA and by USA beekeepers. I love that they support our beekeepers right here in the USA because it is such an essential part to helping pollinate our surrounding supply of fruits and vegetables.
  • Did you know that 1 out of 3 bites we eat depends on bee pollination. Honeybees pollinate 71 of the 100 crops that provide 90% of the world’s food. That statistic is insane! Sue Bee is “premium, U.S. Grade A honey” that is tested for the highest quality in purity, clarity and flavor.
  • Most importantly, Sue Bee honey is made with one single ingredient: honey.

Without further ado, I’m gonna share step by step how to wow your family or guests with the tastiest Brussel sprout side dish.

Honey Roasted Brussel Sprouts

  • Step 1: Wash and cut your Brussel sprouts. Place them in a bowl and coat with olive oil (roughly 1-2 tbsp)

  • Step 2: Layer on baking pan and season with salt, pepper and red chili pepper. Roast at 425 degrees for 20 minutes-is or until they brown.
  • Step 3: Meanwhile, toast your almond slices on the stove on medium heat with 1 tbsp olive oil until brown.

Step 4: Throw the roasted Brussels in the air fryer at 400 for 15 minutes to really give them that “crisp” that makes them so delicious.

  • Step 5: Toss brussels with honey, balsamic, goat cheese and top with chives.

Ingredients:

  • Sue Bee honey
  • Bag of Brussel Sprouts
  • Olive Oil (1-2 tbsp)
  • Balsamic Vinegar (roughly 1 tbsp)
  • Almond Slices
  • Salt & Pepper
  • Red Chili Flakes
  • Goat Cheese (Trader Joe’s has a honey goat cheese that would be perfect, otherwise crumbled cheese works great)
  • Chives
  • You’ll need an air fryer if you wanna do the entire recipe. If you don’t already have one I have two to recommend. First the Dash compact or family sized air fryer. You can get it on sale for $42. We love ours! OR if you’re looking for an all in one, the Ninja Foodi Grill is amazing! It has the capability to grill (and it tastes like grilled food), bake, dehydrate and air fry food.

Recipe:

  1. Turn on oven at 425 degrees. Cut Brussel sprouts in 1/2 or 1/4. Toss with olive oil. Lay on foiled baking pan and sprinkle with salt, pepper and red chili pepper flakes. Roast for 20 minutes or until browned.
  2. Turn Air Fryer on 400 and air fry Brussels for 15 minutes or more if you like them super crispy.
  3. Toss Brussels with honey, balsamic and goat cheese. Add more salt, pepper or chili pepper to your liking.
  4. Top with chives.
  5. Voila. Eat and enjoy.

I hope you love this recipe as much as we do. My husband always says Brussels aren’t the prettiest dish but man did they taste good. As a matter of fact when I made these for the recipe, he ate them up as soon as I turned my back. Make sure to share this recipe on social media and PIN my images 🙂
