We moved in our home a few years ago and it’s our very first home as a couple and family. It was a short sale and we got a great deal but we had our work cut out for us. The bones were great but the aesthetics needed some work. We have been doing big and small renovations the past few years but really dug into it the past few months to prep it to sell in a couple years. We also want to actually enjoy the upgrades while we live here. We opted for carpet in the beginning because honestly we didn’t know any better. As a homeowner for 3 years now I feel like I know a lot more about the costs associated with upgrades and what is worth what a lot better. It was the highest quality carpet but I have wanted to get rid of our carpet for awhile. I have nothing against carpet but it just made our rooms look so busy. I searched around for options other than hardwood because I’m a mom on a serious budget and decided on vinyl plank flooring by Tarkett Flooring. I’ve been telling my Instagram fam about this project for a few weeks now. I know it took awhile to get this installed but it was well worth it. Here’s why:

- Easy Installation || Perfect for DIY-ers. Now we hired a friend of ours to do this because it’s hard to do with a baby on your hip and a husband who never stops working. I could’ve easily done it if I had the time though. Actually our friend said it was extremely easy and made him consider this over hardwood.
- It’s Trendy || Ok I was so impressed by the modern collection Tarkett Flooring had for ProGen. They had so many contrast designs but also traditional options for those of us who are moderate.
- Durability || ProGen’s flooring doesn’t warp or bend when exposed to crazy temperatures or sunlight. It’s perfect for high traffic areas like hallways, sunrooms and even bathrooms. It definitely stands the test of time.
- It’s 100% Recycable/Reclaimable.
- It’s gorgeous. I go in the room once a day just to stare at its beauty. I’m actually not being funny, I love it that much. It looks so pretty in the room and makes all the accents pop.
- It’s quick || They were done with two rooms in less than a full day’s work. Everything for installation can be done with a standard tool set and cut with a basic utility knife. It also requires zero acclimation time unlike most flooring.
So the flooring we installed in our theater room is the ProGen luxury vinyl and comes in 22 different colors. We used the color Stained Maple Carmine 4443 and I love the dark contrasts. I couldn’t believe how much it opened up the room once installed. It looked so much better and like a new room. I couldn’t believe how cluttered the carpet made it look. It looks just like wood right? Looks like wood but is solid and waterproof.
The only finishing touches we had to do were put down a transition piece to connect to the hallway at the door since we pulled up carpet and put down molding to connect floor to wall. (Super simple job) So if you’re looking to make some updates on a budget like we are throughout our home but still have your home look high quality I would definitely recommend Tarkett Flooring ProGen Vinyl Plank.
