New Years Eve can be tough in a lot of different ways. Most of the time, we have these crazy expectations that it’s going to be the best night of our lives. Unfortunately, this is usually not the truest statement out there. It’s always a lot of fun, but “fun” can look a lot of different ways. It’s different for everyone! Some people go to bed before midnight and wake up to the new calendar year like it’s just another day. Some people throw extravagant parties in their massive homes (probably Gatsby theme if I had to guess). Others travel to NYC or out of the country to ring in the new year. Some spend an intimate night with their significant others. People bar hop. Get a party bus. Dance the night away in a penthouse looking over the city. Go skiing! Snuggle with their kids on the couch and let them stay up until midnight once a year while drinking sparkling apple cider.
However you choose to celebrate this year, I think everyone has the right to enjoy it in their special way that makes them feel happy! If I say one thing, it’s that any excuse to dress up and put makeup on is a good one. Sure, I may end up in my sweatpants with my hair in a bun, but it’s fun to remember what you look like with makeup on and a cute outfit vs. the oversized dirty t-shirt I rock on a daily basis. I think this is especially important for my mommas out there! It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day hustle and bustle of mom/wife life. If you feel like you hardly have time for yourself anymore, you’re not alone.
A great way to get out of this funk and remember that you’re the bad a** b*tch that you are, is to throw on some makeup and hot little number and go show yourself off! You deserve to feel strong, confident, and beautiful ALL THE TIME. Sometimes we forget this. It can help you remember that you embody all of these things no matter what you’re doing, what you’re wearing, who you’re with. Sometimes it takes “playing the part” to remember who the heck you are. New Years Eve is the perfect time for this in my opinion. If you’re a fan of New Years Resolutions, you’re already looking forward to how you can better yourself in the coming year. So you should look good and feel good while setting these intentions! Bring good juju your way and just own the night. I’ll stop the motivational speaking now and skip to the good part.
I chose to opt for a sleek pony because to be honest I didn’t have time to wash my hair so it worked out perfectly. You can use make a bun, make long tailed fluffy pony/braid or do what I did and tease the heck out of the pony to give it a little edge. I followed that up with a heavy gunmetal eye and a nude lip. I would recommend doing eyes before makeup because the fall out might need to be wiped off. You can find my quick tutorial here on my Instagram and the products I used below 🙂
