Beachy hair, don’t care. I have been cursed/blessed with this odd hair texture that looks like I’ve put half of it in braids overnight. Some of it is fairly straight and some is super wavy. It’s taken me years to actually love my hair texture and accept the “I love your hair texture” compliments without cringing. I know so many of you struggle with this hair type and are curious how to style it. I have been playing around with so many different products and techniques for years trying to master it (after failing multiple times with so called curl perfecting products) and I really feel like I finally have it down.

So let’s chat beach wave curls products first:

Beach Hair: Wave Curls

Shampoo/Conditioner:

I have been using the Hair Food Nourishing Collection (it’s the shampoo, conditioner and hair mask) when wearing my hair natural because it is extremely hydrating and your hair really needs that when wearing it naturally because it tends to frizz up. It leaves my hair soft and smooth and smells divine. For someone with wavy hair that often gets knotted, it makes my hair easier to comb through and much more manageable. Also, the plus side for me is Hair Food is fully inspired by clean, simple ingredients for your hair. Meaning no sulfates, parabens, dyes, mineral oils etc. Huge plus right now is you can find it at your local Kroger for only $11 and if you buy $15 of beauty products you can get $5 back.

Wide Tooth Comb: First when wet I use a wide tooth comb to detangle but still keep fragile wet hair intact and healthy. This one is BOMB and so inexpensive!

Air Dry Cream: I use an air dry cream to pull out my natural waves after my hair is damp, not soaking wet. I rub it together a quarter sized dollop in my palms and then spread throughout my hair concentrating on the ends. It really gives your locks that tousled beach look and doesn’t leave it crunchy like a lot of creams can do. You can opt to let it air dry like the product says or I will use a hair dryer and diffuser to give it more volume.

Sea Salt Spray: I use a  Salt Spray and it also gives it that natural beauty look without leaving that yucky crunch feeling. Just soft waves and you can’t beat the price point.

Hair Dryer & Diffuser: Ok I have tried so many hair dryers with diffusers trying to perfect the wavy hair and they always left my hair so starched feeling and knotted. I have found the holy grail of hair dryer diffusers and will never use another one guys. I know it has a steeper price tag than you might be used to but TRUST me it’s worth it! It dries my wavy hair so effortlessly and it is SO soft afterward. They also have a gift set right now that includes the hairdryer, comb, 2 nozzles, diffuser and brush. I dry my hair in sections starting at the bottom so I can focus on the hair. It makes my waves bouncy and takes so much less time than any other dryer I’ve used. I always use the lowest wind speed when using a diffuser to avoid frizz but with the Dyson if you’re short on time you could definitely kick it up and your hair will still look amazing!

Hairspray: After all is said and done I use a hydrating hairspray to lock in the curls/waves. I play with so many different hair and makeup products so it’s typical for me to jump around and experiment but then I also have the OG’s who I know I can always turn to. This hairspray is it. It gives off a fine enough mist that it doesn’t make my hair too harsh but it also holds it like a beast.

Curling Iron: I sometimes will try to wave my hair with my ride or die T3 multi-iron but if I’m really wanting that wavy/crimp look I use my deep waver to create an effortless wavy look. I start about an inch from the root and go down the piece of hair in sections for about 10 seconds each piece.

Texture Spray: If I’m really wanting that Carrie Bradshaw big c-c-curly hair I end with my FAVE texture spray to give it some stickiness and volume. It’s guaranteed to give any part of your hair that is limp that extra oomph you’re needing.
