This post is sponsored by Pampers Pure available at Walmart but as always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m no expert on paper but in life I feel like I’m empowered enough to speak to new moms and share some advice on motherhood. I have been through it a couple times and as a teenager and young adult I also cared for my younger siblings often. As we move into baby season since everyone I know is either pregnant or just had a baby, as an “experienced” mom of two I wanna share a few new mom life hacks to help you get through the day a little easier. Moms. We are busy, right? Yeah on the clock 24/7 so on top of being on call for our kids nonstop, we are also learning how to mom as we go. It’s a rough few months in the beginning, I know. You’re drowning just trying to keep your head above water. I’ve been there, I’m still there and probably will be for awhile if not always as a mom. Luckily there are a few things & products that make it a tad bit easier on us.
7 New Mom Life Hacks:
1. Start each day with a to do list for your day. Start with the most important and go down as much as you can and start over each day. Writing it down can help you feel organized and get more accomplished. This is something I practice to get my day straight. Even if I don’t get all of the things done I put on the list, it still helps me stay on track when I can mark them off.
2. Use a pickup service to order your groceries (meals, formula, DIAPERS) online: Walmart online grocery pickup carries the same every day low prices as Walmart stores. It’s also free store pickup, they’ll load everything right in the car for you and you can save favorites for your everyday uses like formula and diapers. So convenient for a new mom. How to do it: Place an order online at grocery.walmart.com & choose a pickup timeslot. They’ll do the shopping & load items into your car. If you need it the same day look for items marked “FREE Pickup Today.” You will get an email when it’s ready.
3. Food prep for the week on Sundays. I’m telling you this a lifesaver as a new mom or mom in general. As a matter of fact if any of your friends just had a baby, this could quite possibly be the kindest thing you can do for them. You can even bulk cook if possible and freeze large meals you make in the crockpot or pressure cooker. I make large batches of food on the grill for us to eat throughout the week. That way when dinner time comes I’m not a grumpy goat trying to juggle caring for my kids and get dinner on the table. I just have to reheat it and add a couple fresh ingredients and it’s done.
4. Choosing the right products. Let’s talk diapers/wipes… Take the guesswork and research out of finding the right diapers and wipes for your baby/toddler. Pampers Pure diapers and wipes are made with premium cotton, soft plant-based and with other thoughtfully selected materials that are soft on baby’s delicate skin. I’ve been using Pampers for 6+ years with all of my kids and the new Pampers Pure are my favorite. Also, Pampers Pure Protection diapers are made without chlorine bleaching, fragrance, parabens, latex (natural rubber) and the 26 allergens identified by the European Union.
5. Wash small baby items in a mesh bag. If you think grown socks get lost in the dryer you haven’t seen anything yet. This is such an understated hack. I lose my own socks much less my children’s. This is pure genius to keep those little guys safe from the laundry monster.
6. Starting your kids on chores early. Include them in the little things like putting their dishes away, putting up toys, sorting laundry etc. It not only helps them learn self-sufficiency but will help you in the long run by teaching a child to do things for themselves so you don’t have to. My daughter is a year and a half and just this morning I had her putting cups away and putting laundry in the hamper. Even if they end up yanking it all out on the floor again, it is still teaching them what they need to be doing to help out.
7. Let go of the guilt. Ok this one is mental but it’s something all of us struggle with daily. We ask ourselves daily: Did I do enough? Was I present? My house is a mess. Did I feed them the right things? AM I A GOOD MOTHER? Do you love your child, feel protective and try to give them the best life you possibly can? Ok, you are a GREAT mother. Repeat it out loud… I AM A GREAT MOTHER, I AM DOING MY BEST. The house doesn’t always have to be tip top clean. You’re doing wonderful. Just know most moms deal with mom guilt on the regular but as long as you have the best interest of our children at top priority, you’re killing the mom game so give yourself a huge pat on the back.
