Hi friends! If you’ve been following my journey for a bit, you know that we are currently working on renovating/making over our home! This has been a long and stressful journey, but one that has really allowed me to pour some creativity into my life. Today I am introducing my Mid-Century Modern Bedroom Inspiration as well as raw BEFORE and AFTER photos of our space! Featuring an incredible carpet to hardwood transformation as well.
If you’re from the Nashville area, you know how absolutely NUTS the housing market is currently. It’s a complete sellers market, not a buyers market. I’m sure you’ve seen the memes should you have engaged with anything real estate related in the past couple of months! I mean, it is simply out of control.
With that being said, we have been looking to prep our home for resale and begin the hunt to our new home. With how crazy everything has been, we have taken the time to slow our search a bit and really focus on getting our home in the best condition. I’ve almost fallen so in love with it that I’ve begun to question whether or not I actually want to move lol! My style has been ever-changing over the past few years but there are certain decor items that have stayed steady throughout my different phases. From project to project, I have realized that my overall style is Mid-Century Modern! Sometimes it’s hard to put a name on your “style”, but I truly haven’t found one item that hasn’t inspired me in this category. Therefore, that is what we have chosen for our Mid-Century Modern Bedroom!
Never heard of Mid-Century Modern before? It’s honestly sort of difficult to fit in one definition. It roughly describes decor, architecture, furniture, and graphic design from the 20th century (around 1935-195). It has roots in the Industrial Revolution making it’s inspiration an extreme modernist movement! I just can’t get enough of it. It’s clean, it’s timeless, it’s modern, it’s funky, it’s unique and simple all in one, it’s comforting, and it’s professional. These are pieces I would love nothing more than to use for my bedroom makeover. We decided to switch out our carpet for hardwood for many reasons, but most importantly because it helps with the resale value of your home. It also helps with the aesthetic appeal! As you know, the home and decor trends are always changing. In my opinion, hardwood is timeless and goes with everything. Therefore making your home more appealing when it comes time to sell. It also just looks less cluttered and cleaner than carpet, in fact it’s easier to clean. Let’s also mention with allergies and asthma on the rise, hardwood is the way to go.

I thought it was going to be really hard to find flooring that matched our downstairs hardwood but to be honest with you it was a breeze with all the options at Floor & Decor. They have aisles and aisles with the flooring of your dreams; whatever you want, hardwood, engineered hardwood, vinyl, laminate. I love the rich tones of cherry in our flooring and really feel it not only complimented my Mid Century style but also our master bath decor. Our future buyers definitely lucked out We are long term customers of Floor & Decor and I can’t wait to tackle our next project.
