Traveling with kids is something most people dread. I completely understand the headache and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t also feel like sometimes. I think it’s kind of one of those things where it just gets better with more practice. I’ve made myself get of of my comfort level and take them on more trips so they become used to it. So with that being said, I’ve made it a point to travel with the kids in tow multiple times this year. Starting with Chattanooga… what are some things to do in Chattanooga?
We opted for a Chattanooga weekend getaway because 1. it’s beautiful 2. it’s only 2 hours away. So what did we do and what are our suggestions? Well I’m gonna take you on our journey and also share all of the recommendations I have been sent as well.
Chattanooga Weekend Getaway:
Friday
Friday we drove in and checked into our hotel at The Chattanoogan. After getting settled in and unpacked, we headed to dinner. I spent the better part of Thursday researching different restaurants and man does Chatt have some great options! We went to State of Confusion and I was SO pumped when we got there and there were igloos everywhere. If you live in Nashville, you know we have them at the Bobby hotel but you have to put a reserve for $1000. That’s not always a possibility unless you have a large group of people to split the bill. The girls ordered mac and cheese and the fries were SO good. (plus I judge a place by their ranch dressing and it was bomb) Afterward we grabbed Cold Stone ice cream and headed back to the hotel.
Saturday
We got up that morning and walked to Ugly Mug with the girls. Man is that place busy?! We grabbed a seat at the bar and noshed on our breakfast before we tackled the Aquarium.
We had so much fun at the Tennessee Aquarium, but unfortunately were a little late to check out the behind the scenes action.
Some more of Chattanooga’s popular destinations are Ruby Falls, The Chattanooga Choo Choo, Rock City, and Lookout Mountain. Also, the Chattanooga Riverfront is such a nice area to walk around, have a picnic, go to the lake, or anything outside! Not to mention, in June they have “Riverbend Festival” with major artists as headliners. If you’re in the area, there are tons of cool restaurants to try. And if you’re looking for a fun place to have drinks with friends, head over to “Sing It or Wing It”, a karaoke bar and grill.
We stopped for lunch at “The Feed”, which serves delicious meals such as the fried brussels sprouts salad (what I ordered!), the 20 hour brisket French dip, and sooo many more! They have a really good variety of foods for everyone to enjoy.
Between lunch and dinner, we just napped at the hotel and relaxed. For dinner we hit up St. John’s Meeting Place. Super fancy inside (not always ideal with kiddos), and the mac & cheese was superb!
SUNDAY (OUR LAST DAY)
Started our morning off by getting some breakfast at Rembrandt’s Coffee House, which was fantastic! It’s in the heart of the art district which is super cool to walk around and look at. Note that you cannot photograph the majority of the artwork.
Then we headed to our final adventure for the trip and spent some time at the Children’s Creative Discovery Museum. Not only is it super fun for your little ones, but it’s so educational. There are so many things for kids to learn about, from science and archaeology to music and engineering. It’s super interactive and fun for the whole family! Then we grabbed a bite at The Daily Ration before heading back to good ‘ole Nashville!
That’s all folks! I hope you enjoyed reading about our trip and if you make plans to travel to Chattanooga, hope these tips will make your trip phenomenal! Thank you so much for following along and checking out my Chattanooga Weekend Getaway guide! Much love XO
