You would think because I already have a child I would be completely prepared when it comes to baby needs. Uh a little bit I guess but so many new things have came out since I had K almost 5 years ago. I did a lot of research on what’s new and what’s worth it so I wanted to share my findings. I also plan on doing a part two because these are for the first few months and honestly, I couldn’t fit everything single thing I wanted in this round up. There have been so many new developments. Also gonna give some honorable mentions because I think they are amazing but Baby C didn’t agree. (That doesn’t mean your baby won’t, they’re picky that way) So….let’s dig into it, shall we?
This is the #1 – rated infant car seat and features premium zipper accents for added style and convenience. It is intended for newborns from 4-30 lbs with a newborn insert 4-11 lbs. We love our Chicco Key-fit infant seat. Also we purchased the Liteway Plus Stroller which is compatible with the carseat and you can use it as a sturdy umbrella stroller when the baby is big enough. Umbrella strollers are usually so flimsy and the other strollers are so bulky. This was a happy medium for us and it fits in the smaller trunk of my car with room to spare. Plus it’s easy to pop up and down for quick trips in the mall etc.
“The KeyFit® 30 Zip also features a quick – remove seat pad that is machine – washable for easy cleanup. One – pull harness tightening and loosening in the car seat allow for quick fitting, and the infant insert gives extra support for a smaller baby.”
Hands down one of my favorite new products I’ve discovered, if not my most favorite one. Before Charlie was born I wanted a Halo bassinet (honorable mention #1) beside my bed because I didn’t wanna put her in her crib in another room for a few months. A friend of mine asked if I had heard of the Dockatot and I said I had not. (It came out since my last child) I looked it up but didn’t think much of it again, being very confident my baby would sleep in her bassinet. Guess what?! She didn’t. She had 20 minute bursts of sleep and that was it. So luckily I had received a Dockatot and started letting her nap in that beside of me. Um, golden. I’m not kidding. They aren’t paying me to say good things, but I am. It is the only thing my daughter will sleep in. The worst part is I fear she will outgrow it before long so I am upgrading to the bigger one.
Plus, good news for ole paranoid me is we can safely co-sleep. I keep my hand on her almost all night. Yes I’m aware I’m a tad crazy. It has been safety tested and is 100% breathable. It’s protective sides aid back positioning while preventing the baby from rolling out of bed, getting caught between the bed and the wall, or wriggling down under the covers. The sides also prevent the parents from rolling on top of the baby. Also unlike soft adult mattresses, the firm Sleepyhead® mattress reduces the risk of suffocation. You can view it’s approved safety standards HERE.
Here are it’s many, many benefits: perfect for traveling or moving room to room, helps transitioning to bed when older, helps with tummy time. We are obsessed.
I may not have two babies but my older child is lazy and still uses a stroller when we go to Disney or the zoo. It was a no brainer that I would need to invest in a double stroller for the two. I love the Cosatto Supa Dupa stroller because well for starters look at all the fun patterns, but most importantly it accommodates newborns with its newborn nester and also older children. One of my favorite features is Supa Dupa’s multimedia gadget pocket with speaker plus ‘Window-on-the-World’ hood display pockets for pictures or films to entertain children. You can stand it upright when not in use and also it’s lightweight aluminium chassis with carry handle makes transportation a breeze. Read all about the features HERE. There are so many cool things about this stroller.
One of the most annoying things about running around with a newborn that can’t sit up is lugging around that heavy infant seat. Also let’s talk about how unsafe it is to sit the carseat at the front of the cart because it risks falling off. Then if you try to put it inside the cart, you have no room for your groceries, etc. Binxy Baby easily clips onto most shopping carts and hangs elevated so you have plenty of room for groceries while securing your baby. After your done, it rolls up to fit in your purse or diaper bag. It also meets or exceeds all applicable safety standards.
Fisher Price Rock N Play Premium
Most of my friends didn’t have kids yet when I was pregnant the first time. When I became pregnant with Charlie I asked them what was their favorite baby item since things had changed so much in five years. One of the consistent answers is the Fisher Price Rock N Play. Every single person said their children napped so well in it. I was sent one a few weeks ago and they were right. This particular one I received is too cool for school though because it has a remote control from your smart phone, rocks by itself and has a projection on the canopy. I mean, it’s pretty awesome.
Our daughter was diagnosed with hip dysplasia last week and we didn’t realize most infant carriers aren’t “hip healthy.” Luckily we had a Lille baby carrier and as you can see in the photo above, both legs are in a hip friendly position. The Lille baby carrier has solid support for your baby and you, while it also easily transforms as your child grows (from birth through the toddler years.) The lumbar support is amazing for your health, especially if you have back problems like I do.
Some of us moms prefer slings to carriers. The Baby Balboa adjustable sling was developed, tested and recommended by Dr. Sears. It helps calm your baby and increases the bonding experience. It is also a sne-size adjustable sling which is designed to grow with your baby. Bonus: It’s machine washable.
Yes, I am that crazy Pinterest mom that makes her baby’s food. Or at least I was with K for the first few months. I fully intend on it with Charlie too, especially since I keep hearing all of these recall alerts on baby food. I’ve tried a couple different options, including my Vitamix. The Babycook Pro prepares healthy meals for your child in 15 minutes. You can prepare 18 servings in one batch. Not only does it puree baby food, but it also blends in many different sizes. On top of all that, you can use it to defrost food and warm /sterilize bottles. Clean up is quick plus it’s top rack dishwasher safe.
I also have the Beaba Multiportions to freeze and store foods. This is a baby food game changer.
Attention crazy paranoid moms like myself. This thing will save your sanity…or make you more obsessive, I’m not sure which one is better. I personally would rather be obsessive than constantly checking to see if my baby is breathing. Wait I guess that’s also defined as obsessive. Oh well, it makes me feel better to know I have covered all my bases to keep my baby bug safe. The Owlet is a smart sock connected to your phone or tablet designed to notify you if your baby’s oxygen levels or heart rate fall out of range. It also has clinically proven technology. You probably know it at the little red light that they clip on your finger at the doctor’s office.
Hopefully you can get better rest at night knowing it’s designed to notify you right on your phone. Because let’s be honest, who doesn’t sleep with their phone right beside them?! Because let’s be honest, who doesn’t sleep with their phone right beside them?! ! The wireless Smart Sock comes in multiple sizes to grow with baby and fits snugly on their foot while it tracks their heart rate and oxygen levels while sleeping. Here is a list of frequently asked questions.
Like I said before, our little one was diagnosed with hip dysplasia last week. Hip dysplasia is a problem with formation of the hip joint. Causes can include family history, babies in breech position and low or lack of amniotic fluid (Charlotte’s case). Even if your baby was not born with it, improper swaddling can also result in HD. The outcome later in life can result in surgery to realign bones or a hip replacement. This Embe Baby Swaddle is perfect because it doesn’t restrict her legs and keep them straight like most swaddles. That can strongly affect the hips in babies and make cases like hip dysplasia even worse. It can also go in between the legs and just swaddle the arms.

UnderCover Baby Nursing Cover // Milk Snob Cover
My two favorite nursing cover.car seat cover, cart cover companies. I love these things and both of these brands have the cutest patterns. I love that they are so versatile and you can use them for so many different baby related tasks. I am obsessed.
Let’s talk about for momma now…you would be lying if you said you were happy about your post baby body. If you lost it all and look like a supermodel, then good for you. I don’t. I’ve lost most of the weight but my stomach still looks like a beer gut. I love my Belly Bandit BFF wrap, it has definitely aided in shrinking my waistline. It’s also helpful for c-section recovery. They have many different styles but the BFF is my fave because I’m a short waisted gal. Those corset belly wraps are basically one size and if you don’t fit in it, you’re screwed. The belly bandit comes in regular sizes (XS-L) and it has velcro so it’s more flexible. I’m an small to give you an idea. I also own their Mother Tucker leggings and I loveeee them too. They basically suck in my belly but are seamless under my clothes. Bye bye muffin top.
Mommas you need to take care of yourself after the baby is born. A healthy baby needs a healthy momma. Bella B makes some amazing newborn products and even better products for postnatal care. I love the Soothing Breast Wipes, Mama Soak, Bee Relieved Perineal Healing Spray and Nipple Nurture. The breast wipes and nipple nurture are for breastfeeding moms to soothe the irritation to your nipples that we all know it can do. The spray and soak are perfect for mommas who have had a vaginal delivery to relieve and soothe damaged areas. The Squeaky Bee baby wash is a fave also and is currently what we use to bathe Baby C.
Also wanted to include a couple items I received that have been so useful with the new baby. The Baby Pibu travel essentials set developed by a dermatologist is the perfect TSA approved sized items for your diaper bag. It includes: Pibu’s Bathtime Wash 2oz; Pibu’s Baby Butter 2oz; Hydrating Ointment 1oz; Bottom Balm 1oz. Speaking of diaper bags, this JujuBe BFF diaper bag is one of my favorite bags because it basically it will be your new BFF. Here is why… it’s features:
