Top 5 Disney Magic Kingdom rides for toddlers ||A Guide to Disneyworld’s “MAGIC KINGDOM”
In my previous blog post, I talked about all of the super fun things we did during our day at Animal Kingdom, and some important info to know. Today on the blog I’m going to discuss our day at the most popular Disney Park – Magic Kingdom! This day was our longest out of any park day as there is just SO much to do that you have to spend all day there, that is unless of course you go for multiple days.
Disney Magic Kingdom Rides for Toddlers
The first part of our journey started at the one and only…Cinderella’s Castle for the “Cinderella’s Royal Table” princess breakfast! The girls got to meet Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, and Aurora, which we got some cute pics of! If you’re planning on eating breakfast there or at “Be Our Guest”, make your reservation as early as possible; it’s best if you try for around 8AM, before the park actually opens. For more helpful information and tips for that, check out touringplans.com! You can put your name on the list (up to 3 time blocks/restaurants) to be notified on Touring Plans for a particular time frame or breakfast, lunch or dinner and you’ll get a notification when a spot opens up. You better JUMP on it though when you get that text/email because it’ll be swooped up asap. Another huge tip is to NOT schedule any fast passes before 11AM. If you get to the park early in the morning, you’re more likely to be able to ride so many more things. It’s best to schedule all of your fast passes from 11AM and on! Never make fast passes from 9-10AM. (The park is the busiest at noon, so make sure to keep that in mind when planning your day!) Our first fast pass of the day was for “Storytime with Belle” at 10:30AM, which a super great interactive experience! Keatyn got to be a part of the story and even meet Princess Belle herself!
After our first fast pass, we walked around the area and rode “Dumbo’s Flight”, which has a super nice playground inside the tent for the kids to play on while you wait in line. They give you a buzzer that goes off when it’s your time to move up in the line – definitely a brilliant way to keep your kiddos entertained while waiting. Then, we went onto our next fast pass ride, “Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid”. Directly after that we hopped on the famous spinning teacups before heading to Tomorrowland for lunch.
At this point in the day, you should have had plenty of time to enjoy a lot of rides – so time for lunch! We didn’t quite plan out our fast passes like I previously mentioned, so we had a super late lunch from the Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe located in Tomorrowland. Because of Mickey’s 90th birthday, they had a special Mickey Mouse burger loaded with mac & cheese and spicy cheese dust (SUPER DELICIOUS). Other fantastic full-service restaurants located in Magic Kingdom are “Liberty Tree Tavern” in Liberty Square, “The Crystal Palace” on Main Street, and “The Plaza Restaurant” on Main Street. For good quick-service restaurants, you should check out “Gaston’s Tavern” in Fantasyland, “The Lunching Pad” in Tomorrowland (we picked up some ice cream and a root beer float here!), and “Columbia Harbour House” in Liberty Square.
While in Tomorrowland, Rachel, Keatyn, and I waited in line to meet the one and only Stitch! We walked around and explored Tomorrowland before heading back to Main Street to catch the Disney Character parade. There, we saw so many famous faces like Elsa and Anna, Peter Pan and Wendy, Rapunzel, & even Mickey and Minnie! We decided to spend the rest of our day around Main Street due to how crowded it was.
Since we had such a late lunch, we didn’t pick up any dinner at the park but there are for sure so many great places to grab a bite to eat! The most popular restaurant to eat dinner at is “Be Our Guest” (which uses up two (2) dining credits). An important thing to know about this particular restaurant is that the Beast is only present during dinner. Many people go there earlier in the day hoping to meet him while getting some yummy food, but he’s only there in the evening! Also, during lunch this spot is quick-service but it is a full-service meal at dinnertime. (If you DO go for breakfast or lunch, don’t wait until you get there to order! Order ahead of time to avoid the stress of having to wait on food with your kids.) This restaurant alongside “Cinderella’s Royal Table” are the hardest spots to get a reservation for. It’s usually best to try and book your spot around 180 days in advance. If you’re dining based on a Disney Dining Plan, make sure to know how many credits are used for each restaurant!
If you don’t know much about the Disney Dining Plans, they have three tiers on each plan: quick service, regular dining plan, and deluxe dining plan. For the regular dining plan you get 2 snacks, 1 table service, and 1 quick service per day! You don’t have to use them all in one day but you DO have to have all of them used by the time you checkout of your room. You can easily use apps like Instacart to have groceries delivered to your room so you don’t have to eat out for EVERY meal. It’s a lot of food but man it sure is nice to have it all paid for in advance! For a lot of people, it’s easiest to go to a 10:45 brunch so it’s right in between breakfast & lunch, so you don’t have to use as many credits.
As everyone knows, Disney has the magical fireworks at Cinderella’s Castle late at night. This trip we didn’t end up staying as Charlie was officially tapped out and ready to go to bed. But if you’ve never seen the show, it is a MUST! It’s so magical. If you have seen the fireworks show before, a great tip is to ride some things during the show! Everyone else will be busy at the castle, so you could be doing something like riding the Thunder Mountain Rollercoaster and actually have the best view! It’s always just best to get the Walt Disney World app and regularly check the wait times as it can change from a long wait to a short wait in a matter of minutes!
Between TouringPlans and the Walt Disney World app, there should be information for all you need to know from how crowded it is, park hours and events, and so much more! Just like with Animal Kingdom, many – if not all – of the same rules and restrictions apply to the other Disney Parks. Whether it’s about strollers, what you can/can’t bring inside, etc., it’s all the same! Thank you so much for checking out my personal guide to Magic Kingdom, I really hope this info helps you all out when it comes to planning out your own trip! Check out the list below for some great photo-op spots around the park!
Much love. xo
BEST PHOTO-OP SPOTS IN MAGIC KINGDOM:
- Tangled Restroom – I know what you’re thinking, a restroom? Really? But right between It’s a Small World and Haunted Mansion, you can find Rapunzel’s tower located next to some really pretty bathrooms. It’s draped with the lanterns you see straight from the movie and looks best closer to nighttime!
- The Purple Wall (#purplewall) – located in Tomorrowland, this has become a super popular “instagramable” spot. There are two separate parts: the solid purple wall and the galactic purple wall. You can find this popular wall by taking a right off of Main Street, just past The Plaza Restaurant, and head straight into Tomorrowland Terrace. As you exit the terrace (you’ll walk down a ramp), you should see the purple wall on the right as you approach Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
- Candy Stripe Wall (#candystripewall) – If you happen to pick up something sweet at Main Street Confectionery, it’s the perfect place to snap a pic with your treat. With it’s white and pink stripes, it’ll make for the perfect sweet-looking pic!
- Cinderella’s Castle – I mean…c’mon. CLEARLY this is the most anticipated part of the park. Getting that perfect selfie, family photo, or instagram-worthy pic in front of the castle is a must before exiting the park.
- Hub Grass – this little area (during the day) is the perfect chill spot. It’s also a great area to get some cute pics in!
- Mickey-shaped treats – there are SO many different types of foods/treats in every Disney park that have the classic mouse on them. From burgers, ice cream, pretzels, and so much more, anywhere that you can grab one of those will always make for an adorable photo.
