When we first bought our home we lived in a 1200 sq ft condo with high vaulted ceilings. We got pregnant with Keatyn and that lasted about 2 years until we just couldn’t do it for one more minute. We bought a house in the burbs near triple the size. It was definitely a fixer upper but what could we do with all of that new space? We definitely didn’t have the furniture to fill all that extra footage up.
Almost immediately when deciding what to do with all of the rooms, Matt decided he had to have a “man room” for one of the extra rooms. Keatyn had her toy room, we had a yes room and a baby room if we got pregnant so I let him have it. Partially because I knew he would take his projector screen in there to smoke hookah and I was so tired of living like a vampire to watch tv. So we moved our old, ripped up couch in there until we could replace it. Matt spends so much time in there watching football at night while I watch my chick shows, when his friends come over on the weekends and when he sneaks away to work. I knew he really deserved something nice so I decided to make over his theater room. I got the wall art for Vanderbilt (his alma mater) and Predators at ScoreArt (which btw is half off right now) and hung them when you walk in the room. His new coffee table is seriously the BEST! It has a full bar when you open it up so I store wine glasses, whiskey glasses, and the drinks stored in the coffee table.
Then this fall I finally got new furniture for his man room. His friends were so happy about that. I ended up getting this lovely weathered leather love seat and two matching chairs. (You can get the couch here) It has two layers of comfort and it is soooo nice. We spend so much time in there watching movies now. We were at the point with our old furniture that we avoided the room because it was so uncomfortable. Needless to say, Matt is VERY pleased. I still have a few little tweaks to do to the room but it is looking smooch classier and distinguished.
So now that most of the theater room is done, can you guess what room is next to redecorate…. it’s where we spend most of our time with the kids vegging out…. yep, the living room. Stay tuned for details on switching out the decor and furniture on a budget soon. Hope you guys enjoyed these theater room ideas. Xo.
