This Tips To Creating Beautiful Christmas Cards post is sponsored by Basic Invite but as always all opinions are my own.
Creating beautiful Christmas cards is a HUGE part of the holidays for us. I also LOVE to receive Christmas cards from our friends and family. There is just something so nostalgic about opening the mailbox and seeing each and every one. It can be an intimidating task but Basic Invite (they have over 500 designs) and I have you covered with some tips and tricks. You can also get custom samples to test the quality and view how your card will look before committing.
- First off, pick the perfect photos for the card. You can stay simple and choose one or do a collage of multiple favorite photos. We usually add a couple of family photos with a Christmas or winter theme (sometimes coordinated outfits) but I receive so many with their newlywed photos, family vacations or birth photos etc. Whatever you think really embodies your family
- Design your card. This is your tome to really let your creative side flow. Designing the cards is my favorite part. We used Basic Invite to design our Holiday cards due in part to their nearly unlimited color options that you can preview immediately. When you choose your design layout you can then change each element of color with over 180 options to really create it how YOU want down to the littlest detail. Mine originally had red in it where some of the black parts are but I opted to change it to black to make it more my taste. Basic Invite also has over 40 different colors of envelopes. (Plus they are peel and seal to avoid the yucky licking envelope mess) My favorites are the foiled cards and the vintage holiday cards.
- Decide how many you need and who has made the list. We typically send them out to our friends and family with the occasional friend of the family. It always makes me so happy to see all of the smiling happy faces. I also always plan on ordering extra cards, roughly 20 or so, to cushion any names I may have accidentally left of the list, for screwups and just to have extra for us to look back on.
- Mail the cards. Basic Invite offers a service called address capturing that allowed their customers to share a link on social media outlets like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. to request their family and friend’s addresses. Then it stores it in your Basic Invite account and can be selected when sending out in addition to their offer of printing the recipient address at no cost. Make sure to give ample time when sending out holiday cards since the post office will be slammed during this time of year. I would guesstimate ordering by Thanksgiving and sending out a couple of weeks before Christmas.
