Glamour, elegance, and sophistication – these are the hallmarks of a black tie event. From charity galas to upscale weddings, these occasions call for nothing short of the finest attire. While it’s easy to default to the timeless black gown, adding a touch of color can be a game-changer. Today I’m sharing how to Choose the Perfect Dress for a Black Tie Event! Keep reading to see more.
As someone who appreciates the classic but loves to mix it up, I’ve found that combining a pop of color or flashy jewels with the allure of a black dress can create a memorable look that’s sure to turn heads.
Elevating the Classic:
There’s something undeniably chic about a black dress at a black tie event. It’s the epitome of timeless elegance and understated glamour. But why not take it up a notch? Incorporating a unique style of dress or a pop of color in your ensemble can infuse a sense of vibrancy and personality that’s both unexpected and delightful. Whether it’s a pair of bold red heels or a statement clutch in a rich jewel tone, these subtle touches can make a world of difference. Personally, I love the contrast of a deep emerald or pearl statement necklace against a black gown – it’s a touch of luxury that adds a unique flair.
My friend Samantha and I headed down to the Showroom in Nashville to try on dresses for the event (you can find my try on HERE) and I landed on this stunning gown that reminded me of Margot Robbie at the LA Barbie premiere. I love that this piece resembled that iconic look!
Showroom Nashville is the perfect one stop shop for any event that you have coming up. They have amazing luxury brand options for a fraction of the cost, that way you can look and feel your best at your next event without breaking the bank! They have all sorts of different sizing, colors, styles, and more. They get new pieces in almost daily, so you’ll pop in and find new things often. Truly, it is one of my favorite Nashville gems. Be sure to check them out if you’re ever in town for an event or live here! You will fall in love! What’s better? If you are obsessed with the piece and want to keep it after you rent it, you can buy it! A win win for sure.
My Unconventional Choice:
Last weekend, my husband Matt and I embarked on a unique adventure that took us to the heart of Nashville’s vibrant scene. Accompanied by our close-knit group of friends, we headed to The Standard for a Gentleman’s Brawl – an event that promised an evening of sophistication, camaraderie, and a dash of whimsy. Stepping into the elegant venue of Th Standard at The Smith House, we were immediately transported into a world where refined elegance met the unexpected. The evening was a delightful blend of friendly competition, old-world charm, and modern entertainment. As we watched the “dueling gentlemen” engage at this fight straight out of a movie based in the 1920’s, I couldn’t help but draw a parallel to my own fashion choices – classic meets contemporary in the most delightful way. Did I just compare a gloved boxing match to fashion… yeah I guess I did.
This evening I gravitated towards a black gown but typically I go between classic black and a color statement to really get the eyes on my outfit choice. In the world of black tie events, embracing a pop of color amidst the sea of black dresses can be a true showstopper. Just as our evening at The Standard seamlessly merged tradition with a touch of quirkiness, so too can your attire reflect your individuality while paying homage to the classic elegance of the event. So, next time you find yourself RSVPing to a black tie affair, consider how you can make a statement that’s uniquely yours either with a pop of color or classic black but elevated. After all, fashion is not just about what you wear – it’s about the story you tell through your style.
