I’m sure by now if you’ve been on Tiktok at all that you’re familiar with the Lucky Girl Syndrome. It’s all the rage on the app right now and people are talking about it nonstop. It’s the one trend I will never get sick of. I am all about spreading the positive energy and reminding yourself that you’re lucky is something I will 100% get behind. Legit this “fad” may be THE BEST THING for your mental health.
What is Lucky Girl Syndrome?
Well the mantra is pretty simple TBH, tell yourself you’re lucky. So lucky in fact that only good things come your way and repeat that to yourself all throughout the day. I’ve been scouring through countless TikToks each day and have watched so many accounts from people discussing how this simple manifestation has changed their lives, mine included. It may sound crazy, especially to a skeptic, but thinking things into being ie. manifesting, is a real thing. (Have you heard of the law of attraction?) Even my own cynical husband says this is the one woo woo thing of mine he actually believes in himself.
Now are you gonna win millions in the lottery with this mantra? I’m not saying yes but hey I’m not saying no either. It’s basically a technique to trick your mind to eliminate the negative energy that doesn’t serve you, improving your mental health and helping with your self esteem. I honestly feel fabulous right now.
This entire thing isn’t new, it just has a new trendy name attached. Essentially its positive affirmation and the law of attraction. Have you read The Secret? Your thoughts influence so much of your behavior. Negative thinking is a learned behavior and can cause you to be spiral but it CAN BE changed. We have to make a conscious effort to approach things with a positive mindset. When we tell ourselves we are lucky and good things always find us, we find the joy and positives in all the small blessings throughout our day. Day by day we find ourselves genuinely more confident and happy. The “bad” things that come our way aren’t so bad anymore because we focus more on the blessings. I authentically feel this now.
Do self affirmations work?
Yes they do. Research has shown that self-affirmations have several mental health benefits:

- Elevating mood and overall contentment and joy
- Decreasing stress
- Increased motivation for solutions

Can positive thinking cure all of our problems? Of course not, as an example you can’t manifest your way out of a loved one being sick but you can change your thought process and bring positive vibes your way each day. Xo.
