This back to school post is sponsored by Dollar General but as always all opinions are my own.
It’s that time again! Back to school shopping and early bedtimes. Already? Ugh right. It feels like just yesterday was Keatyn’s last day of first grade now here we are getting all of the essentials she needs to start second grade the first week of August. Super crazy.
So How do we Prepare for Back to School?
Well, I start the school year with a budget and compare prices to keep spending at a minimum. Thanks to Dollar General, we were able to get all the items on the list of supplies Keatyn needed for herself and her classroom – and at a way cheaper price! Dollar General also has a Spend $15, Save $5 promotion on school supplies like backpacks, lunch kits, folders, glue, pencils, markers and more.
Like every year, we got the necessities such as tissues, paper towels, and other sanitary items for the whole classroom. We also got expo markers for her new teacher. The teachers need all the help they can get in the classroom and I’m happy to oblige for all of the hard work they do for our kids every year. Also for my teachers… you can get a 20% teacher’s discount if you show your teacher’s badge at the register.
Then for Keatyn, we got her a stylish new unicorn backpack with a matching pencil case and lunch box that easily attaches to the front of her backpack! They were all in one so the ease of that made picking it out even simpler, which if you know my indecisive daughter you would understand how much of a relief that was. We also grabbed some new no. 2 pencils, crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, erasers, scissors, glue sticks, and some cool new headphones. Basically everything the general second grade list had listed. Dollar General has a “Teacher’s List” feature online where you can find your child’s class list by entering your zip code to locate your school. BAM!
Charlie had so much fun helping big sis pick out all the necessities for school and packing it all up since we head back in 3 weeks. This is her last year of Moms Day Out and before I know it she will be starting preschool. Now that we are 3 weeks out we have also gradually had to push back bedtime earlier which has been quite the challenge. I suggest moving it a week at a time maybe 30 minutes depending how far off course your child’s bedtime may be.
The girls were huge fans of these DG Literacy Foundation items (cookies & chocolate) so if you see them in your local Dollar General I urge you to throw them in the cart. Not only for a family treat but to help give an education to those in need. 100% of proceeds from the DGLF items go to the foundation. The DG Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $168 million in grants to literacy organizations and helped more than 10 million people learn to read, learn english or prepare for the high school equivalency. Doesn’t everyone deserve the chance for an education?
