Halloween Recipe: Easy Mummy Hot Dogs

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing with you my Halloween Recipe: Easy Mummy Hot Dogs. I am so obsessed with this one because it is SO much fun for the kids and a great appetizer or meal to put out for a Halloween party spooky touch to your dinner table. Keep reading to see how ours turned out and how we made them!

As you all know, I love sharing recipes with you already. So you know how excited I get when I get to put a super fun and creative twist on festive food! My husband and I are huge foodies AND entertainers. Maybe we like to host because it’s an excuse to make a bunch of good food (and keep the left overs lol). I absolutely love making seasonal treats, appetizers, cocktails, food boards, and more. I especially love a good theme and always run with it. As a southern woman, I was simply raised to believe that food is a way to peoples hearts. Well they got me! I also think you’d be lying if you said this wasn’t true for you. The kids got the biggest kick out of this recipe as well.

Below I’m sharing how I made my Halloween Recipe: Easy Mummy Hot Dogs with you as well as sharing photos of how they turned out! Be sure to head over to my Instagram to see a visual of how they “came to life” as well… Ha. Get it?

MUMMY HOT DOG INGREDIENTS:

  • Hot dogs (I used Nathan’s Hot Dogs but feel free to use your faves)
  • Crescent roll dough (Pillsbury is our personal fave and go-to but you can use whatever your favorite brand is)
  • Edible eyes (we used candy eyes for our mummy hot dogs but you can also use mustard, mayo or ketchup dollops for the eyes depending on what you enjoy).

HOW TO MAKE:

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
  • Unroll your crescent roll dough so it’s a horizontal rectangle & press on the perforations to seal them together
  • Cut the dough into 1/4 inch wide strips that go from the top to the bottom (you want them to be long)
  • Wrap the pieces of dough around each hot dog (these are the “bandages” of the mummy), stretch the dough slightly and let it criss cross and overlap
  • Be sure not to completely cover the hot dog because you want to make sure it still has the mummy wrapped effect
  • Place all of the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes (you want the dough to be golden brown)
  • Remove from oven and place candy eyes or eyes of choice on each mummy
  • ALL DONE & SO CUTE/DELICIOUS!

I made this for my girls today and our neighbors and it was such a HYGE hit. Plus they thought I was super cool and creative for making something so themed and unique. It’ll definitely earn you some cool points for a day or so haha.

I hope you all enjoyed this fun and festive recipe! I also posted a video tutorial on Instagram if you wanna see it hands on. I can’t wait to see you all try it. Be sure to tag me if you post these cute and spooky Mummy Hot Dogs on IG @nashvillewifestyles so I can share it.

HAPPY ALMOST HALLOWEEN WITCHES!
