This ‘fixing my smile’ post is sponsored in partnership by Smile Direct Club but as always all opinions and thoughts are my own.
When I was 12 years old I got braces and I detested them. I wanted to cry all the time. I honestly felt the ugliest ever and it was at a fragile age for any girl. I still remember to this day 20 years later the joy I felt at getting them off. Running my tongue over my brace free teeth. Smiling every chance I could because I no longer had a mouth full of metal. Now with all the advances in orthodontics, girls can get their smiles fixed in the most subtle way. Fast forward to 2017 now and I still am not happy with my smile.
I’m gonna be 100% raw and honest with y’all. (You should be used to this by now) I didn’t realize what a difference it would make to forgo your retainer. In my mind I wore it for a couple of years and I thought it all would just stay put. Guess what… it didn’t. My right front tooth has moved and when I talk my lip snags on it. It has bothered me for years. If someone takes a photo of me while talking or when I record video, that’s seriously all I see. Straight tunnel vision to my imperfect tooth. Now is this a huge deal that makes me feel like the most unattractive girl in the world? No. But it does bother me really bad. Why? Because I’m a girl and girls pick themselves apart. I’ve always been a huge advocate for if something bugs you about yourself, then fix it. That also pertains to superficial stuff to an extent. I’m the least judgmental about doing things to change your appearance to make you feel like the best version of you, as long as you don’t get too carried away.
I have been eyeing Smile Direct Club for over a year now because it looked like such a convenient and cost-effective way to fix my insecurities. When I saw it launch, I was instantly intrigued. Especially since I ventured out in the blogging and YouTube world in the past year, all I see are my imperfections that have been bugging me for years. When I watch my YouTube videos I just see my teeth. That’s all, I zero in on it. So finally I’m fixing my smile . Last week I went to the Smile Direct office and had my impressions made to start fixing my smile . It was easy as pie. Took me maybe 20 minutes max. You can go in the Smile office for a 3D scan if you have one near by. Or they can send you impressions in the mail and you can do it all from the comfort of home.
The treatment can last 3-14 months but the typical treatment plan is 5 months. I first hand got to see the scan of my smile and how the treatment would fix my front teeth. My treatment will take about 5 months. I should get my aligners any day now. When it’s time to change to the next aligner, they mail it to me. No more doctor visits. I’m sold. I plan on keeping you guys updated on my progress, make sure you follow my Instagram.
