I’ve been the worst since having Charlie. I make excuses every day to avoid working out. Thank God for my best friend Anne, who is one of Nashville’s TOP trainer’s, for helping me find workouts that incorporate my kids. Anne has taught private sessions, at Barry’s Bootcamp and Studio Nova before taking on her new role as lead trainer for SculptHouse. She whipped me into shape before and after Keatyn and I need her to whip me into shape again now. She is sharing some tips for family workouts with your kids below + a BOOTY CHALLENGE with my fit mom friends.

Inspiration to last a lifetime: Remember, kids watch the actions of adults – especially when it comes to  health + fitness. Kids will be impacted by seeing us workout + move our bodies, and these will be natural actions they will adapt to as they grow up. The good news is there are options to make working out fun, and not seem like a chore. More importantly, there are many great family workouts you can do with your kids to make it a family bonding experience!

1) Blast Some Music + Turn On These at Home Workout Videos you can do with your kids:
2) The Cliff Notes From These Videos:
  • Set a Timer for 12 minutes alternating through these moves every minute
  • Minute One: High Knees
  • Minute Two: Squat Down Touch The Floor (Making Sure your Chest is Up), then reach up to the sky
  • Minute Three: Front Leg Lift Toe Touch, Reaching Opposite Hand to Tow
  • Minute Four: Jog In Place
  • Minute Five: Big Arm Circles
  • Minute Six: Jumping Jacks
  • Repeat 1 Time – Repeat again for a longer workout
3) Stroller Workout:
With your child in their stroller, head outside!
Push them down the road as fast as you can for 1 minute – then stop and do 15 Bodyweight Squats.
Repeat 10-15 times.
Additional Stroller Workout: Do Walking Lunges Outside as you push the stroller.
4) A fun way to workout without feeling like it’s a chore- let your child pick 3-4 songs and dance your heart out with your child!
