Beauty: a Step by Step Space Bun Tutorial

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing my Step by Step Space Bun Tutorial with you all 🙂 If you’re looking to switch up your hairstyle from the usual ponytail, keep reading! I am absolutely obsessed with space buns and I get compliments frequently when I wear my hair like this. It’s the perfect “last day before hair wash” hairstyle if you know what I mean. Heck you can get 1-3 days out of this style honestly.

I love this hair style because it’s super easy, durable, cute, and unique! I used to wear my hair like this all the time when I was pregnant with Charlier because it was so easy. Pregnant people just look cute with buns. I’ve always thought so lol

Back when I was super into filming YouTube videos, I actually filmed a space bun top knot tutorial about 3 years ago. I’m attaching that HERE in case any of you want to be further entertained…

HOW TO DO SPACE BUNS:

Step 1: This hairstyle is best to do when your hair is a little bit dirty and you can go a little HAM on dry shampoo! These buns don’t work the best on really dry silky hair, so I always recommend waiting until the end of your hair wash cycle to do it! First, you’ll want to spray your hair all over with dry shampoo. Let it sit for about 30 seconds, and massage it into your roots!

Step 2: Part your hair down the middle with a comb so it’s even on both sides. You’ll want it parted all the way to the back of your head

Step 3: Put hair into pig tails working with one side at a time

Step 4: Tease pigtails and add some texture spray if needed

Step 5: There are two different ways that you can do your knots (if you head to my IG and watch the recent reel that I posted or the YouTube video that I linked it may help you visualize it better). Option #1: you can twist your hair and then twist it around your pony tail loosely creating a twisted donut type look. Option #2: you can do the thrown together knot look that is a little more messy looking if you’re going for that look. Either way I recommend leaving it a little bit loose and messy so it doesn’t look like you have princess leia buns… unless you’re going for that look than more power to you!

Step 6: Use bobby pins to keep hair in place

Step 7: Light hairspray all over

DONE! Literally the perfect up do if you’re looking to switch it up. I love wearing my hair like this in the evenings, sleeping in it, and wearing it to the gym the next day. All I have to do is touch it up and maybe add another pony around my buns but it usually stays pretty well! It’s a fun gym hairstyle if you’re looking to switch it up from your same ol’ ponytail that you wear all the time.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post! I look forward to hearing your thoughts 🙂 please tag me on IG if you attempt this look and post it! I can’t wait to see how dang cute y’all look. Thanks for reading!
