Hey friends! As someone who has called Nashville home for the past 15 years, I can’t wait to introduce you to my guide to CMA Fest: the ultimate celebration of country music. This four-day festival transforms our vibrant city into a bustling hub of music, camaraderie, and non-stop entertainment. Imagine the energy of thousands of fans, the thrill of live performances from the biggest names in country music, and the discovery of emerging artists on intimate stages. It’s not just a music festival; it’s a community experience that brings people together from all over the world to share in the love of country music. Trust me, there’s nothing quite like the magic of CMA Fest, and I know you’ll fall in love with Nashville just as I have. Hundreds of artists will take the stage on over a dozen stages in downtown Nashville starting Thursday, June 6.
Here is my guide to CMA Fest:
Getting Started: Plan Ahead
CMA Fest is an exciting but intense four-day event. Planning ahead is crucial:
- Tickets: Buy your tickets early. The festival offers various options, from single-day passes to the coveted four-day passes. If you’re a die-hard fan, splurge on the four-day pass. It’s worth it for the full experience.
- I’d highly recommend downloading the free CMA Connect App. The app is a “one-stop shop for all things CMA Fest,” with information about lineups, stage schedules, maps, official merchandise, etc.
- Accommodations: Book your hotel or Airbnb months in advance. Downtown hotels fill up quickly, but staying a bit farther out and commuting in can save you money.
- Schedule: The CMA Fest app is your best friend. It keeps you updated on schedules, stage locations, and artist line-ups. Plus, it’s great for discovering new artists performing on the smaller stages. HERE is the Cma footmap.

Navigating the Fest
Transportation: Downtown Nashville is bustling during the fest. Walking is often the best way to get around. However, the city’s scooters and bike-share programs are also convenient options. If you need a break, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are plentiful but expect surge pricing during peak times. Keep in mind there will major road closures. No vehicular traffic is allowed on Broadway starting Monday, June 3 between 1st and 2nd Avenues, nor on 1st Avenue from Demonbruen to Church Streets. By Wednesday, June 5, even more road closures begin. The city of Nashville suggests if you decide to park in downtown Nashville to use the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, Woodland Street Bridge or Korean Veterans Boulevard Street Bridge to get to the stadium.
Must-See Venues and Stages
- Nissan Stadium: The main stage for the biggest acts. Even if you don’t have tickets for the stadium shows, you can often hear the music from nearby and soak in the atmosphere.
- Riverfront Stage: This stage offers stunning views of the Cumberland River and features a mix of well-known and emerging artists. It’s a great spot for day-time shows.
- Fan Fair X: Held at the Music City Center, Fan Fair X is a must-visit for meet-and-greets, artist panels, and exclusive merchandise. Arrive early to avoid long lines.
Insider Tips
- Hydrate and Protect Yourself: Nashville in June can be hot and humid. Carry a refillable water bottle, apply sunscreen regularly, and wear a hat and sunglasses.
- Bag size for Nissan Stadium. The bags must be clear plastic, vinyl or PVS and may not exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6″ in size. In addition to the clear bags, fans can also carry a small clutch bag or wallet that measures no larger than 6.5″ x 4.5″. What to put in your bag: your phone with tickets ready in case you lose signal, phone charger and/or external battery, sunglasses, sunscree, poncho (just in case), ID, lip gloss/chapstick
- Comfortable Footwear: You’ll be on your feet a lot. Opt for comfortable shoes to avoid sore feet by the end of the day. Take a look at a few chic but comfortable options in my what-to-wear guide!
- Local Eats: Nashville’s food scene is incredible. Don’t miss out on local favorites like hot chicken from Hattie B’s, BBQ from Peg Leg Porker, and sweet treats from The Peach Truck. Fifth and Broadway is a perfect spot to try many options of Nashville faves scattered throughout the venue. (plus shopping!)
- Things fans should leave at home include inflatables, cameras with detachable lenses/selfie sticks, chairs, coolers, drones, firearms and weapons, flags, outside food and drinks, and umbrellas. For the full list of prohibited items, click HERE.
Hidden Gems
- The Bluebird Cafe: While not an official CMA Fest venue, catching a show at this legendary spot is a must. The intimate setting offers a unique way to experience live music.
- The Gulch: This trendy neighborhood offers great dining and shopping options, perfect for a break between sets. Check out Biscuit Love for breakfast or brunch.
- Printers Alley: Explore this historic area for some off-the-beaten-path bars and live music venues. It’s a great way to escape the crowds and enjoy a more laid-back vibe. Try out the new Blueprint Supply Co. Underground Cocktail Club that opened last week. It is a vibe.
- The Opry.
Making Memories
Take lots of photos but also take moments to put your phone away and just enjoy the music and the atmosphere. Engage with other fans; the camaraderie among country music lovers is one of the festival’s highlights.
