Top 10 Beach Vacation Essentials for your Family

Hi people! Today I’m going to be talking about Beach Vacation Essentials for your family. With travel picking back up now that people have the choice of getting the vaccine, I’ve seen so many people jet setting!

It seems as if we almost had a year and 6 months to sit in our homes and ponder all the amazing places we would rather be. We did our research. We dreamed of places we had never thought to go to before. We became determined to reach outside of our comfort zone the second that we were given the chance. Well, here we are ladies and gentlemen! FINALLY. We have reached the point where we are able to bring all these dreams to life. Whether you’ve been planning to travel over seas or take a simple vacation to the closest sandy destination that meets the water, I have put together some Beach Vacation Essentials and universal travel tips that I think will be useful for your family vacations this summer and throughout the rest of this year!

Traveling with young kids can be such an enriching experience and create so many family memories but so many shy away from it because they’re scared and it can be overwhelming. I’m with ya but I choose to make it work and maybe I can help you along the way. Thinking about beach vacation essentials can be particularly difficult because typically it’s not as easy as packing for the typical environment that you’re used to at home or if you weren’t going to a beach destination. If you’ve ever traveled with kids you know you’ll take all the tips and help you can get. Personally, I want to order a drink the second I step off the plane. I’m no expert but I’ve been traveling with kids since Keatyn was 6 weeks old so I feel like 6+ years is enough to warrant a blog post, don’t you? I mean 6 and under are the hardest ages to travel with anyways. If I give my 6-year-old a coloring book and an iPad, we are golden. So today I’m going to be sharing some Beach Vacation Travel Essentials as well as some tips for making your travel day and trip go as smoothly as possible. Let’s dive into it…

Keeping your space less sandy:

Travel Tips for Vacationing as a Family (specifically with little ones):

Be prepared for the flight.

I know that sounds super predictable and you’re like “uh yeah ok thanks Ashley.” What I mean is take account of all the little things.

Schedule, schedule, schedule.

This can be tricky I’ll admit, but it is so important to try to keep your children on schedule as close as you can for your sanity. Especially with babies and toddlers it can genuinely affect their mood in every type of way. Try to keep their feeding and sleep as close to usual as you can and keep them comfortable.

Allow downtime wiggle room in your schedule.

Children need to release energy especially if they have spent significant time in a stroller or in an infant carrier. Let them run around and play. Allow your older children to pick some of the activities so they feel like they’re part of the planning. It is something small but it will mean so much to them in the long run.

Make memories.

Take lots of pictures, film videos of the beautiful moments you guys are sharing together. Start a travel journal for you document all of the specific memories from the trip. I’m still young mother so I can’t speak on looking back on memories of my children so much but I do think of my own childhood memories and how I can barely remember specific moments in time. I love looking at old photos of trips that I took with my dad and seeing the little sentences they wrote on the back of each picture. How cool is that now that we can document every single moment thanks to technology. Embrace it, your children will thank you down the road.

I hope my recommendations for beach vacation essentials and family travel tips have given you some direction on where to get started when planning your excursions this summer and beyond!
