SPRING DECOR WITH OPAL HOUSE:
It’s a common joke in our home that my husband makes at my expense about how I am constantly changing things. It must be the creative side to me. I always have a vision and want to play with the rooms in my house. Our bedroom has been 4 different themes since we moved in three years ago. I’ve painted every piece of furniture…some even twice ha. So recently I purchased a gorgeous navy bohemian dresser and nightstand and made the commitment to transition from rustic to boho decor. You can find most of the pieces I’ve purchased below.
When I heard the Opal House collection at Target was coming out, I was ecstatic because it was all items I love but more reasonable for this mom on a budget. I racked it all up as soon as I could but there are a couple items I didn’t act fast enough for. (I need you fiddle tree!!!) I also got all my framed artwork from Minted. So how did I change it up so easily? Well here are a few tips I have for you to easily change up the style of your bedroom:
- I kept my walls and bed frame neutral so all I had to do was change the colors in the room to switch it up. The walls are a muted grey and the bed frame is a tufted beige. Colors like this make it much easier to build on.
- Throw pillows. Literally the easiest way to change it around. Get a solid colored bed spread and switch out the pillows. I do this at least twice a year to scratch that creative itch of mine. I also do it in my living room. I blame my name for this creative curse haha.
- Switch out knobs on your dresser, nightstands, etc. If you don’t have the money to buy new furniture or paint your furniture then just mix it up by changing out the knob. My faves are here and here.
- Speaking of painting…Just paint your furniture with chalk paint if you are tired of it. The cool thing about chalk paint is you don’t have to prime it so you can technically paint it like 5 times if you want. Here are some tips and a tutorial on some chalk paint projects.
- Layer blankets & pillows to give it texture and depth. I like to play around with complimenting patterns and colors to keep things new.
- Add an area rug. I added one to every room even though we have carpet. I still like it much more than the boring carpet. I love the new cowhide one we put in our bedroom, it’s soft under my feet too.
- Wallpaper. Yes I said wallpaper, don’t judge. It’s cool again I promise. Seriously the easiest way to spruce up your wall. I am adding a dalmatian or floral wall next week to ours. Don’t tell Matt.
I’m sharing all my favorite finds from the Opal House collection below plus the rest of this bedroom decor above.
